do you have a lot of posts (hundreds of thousands)? if so, can you check your server error logs.... perhaps cpu time exceeded or php memory... the upgrade script for this version is going through all the posts and correcting and url shortened links that would be wrong in the db from 4.x... tested it up to few hundred thousand posts for time and memory, so wonder if you have more...

is it working now? or upgrade still needed? there are no critical upgrades past the db correction that are required...

Yep. I have hundreds of thousands. I'm actually, migrating to a new server as we speak.  As soon as it's up and running i'll try again and see what happens.

If it fails again is there an alternative method of updating?  Can i call the SQL script directly on MySQL instead?

Thanks,

Aaron

No manual way although we may be able to work one out.

What is the status of your system now? We can certainly get you up and working OK and then come back to this issue separately and at leisure.

I rolled back to previous state so i'm back up and running on 5.1.3

This weekend i will try and upgrade again and see if maybe the new server is faster and will process quicker.  If this does not work, however, it would be great to just resolve the issue with a SQL statement.  Otherwise, i'll have to copy up 5.1.3 files again and rolling back makes me nervous.

Thanks for you guys quick responses.

There was no real reason to do that...

This is what I suggest. It means making a small edit to the 5.1.4 upgrade script which can be found at /sp-startup/install/sp-upgrade.php

Scroll down to the very bottom and then up a few lines and locate the part that starts with:

$section = 9136;

and then remove that whole section/block so that it flows from section 9086 directly to section 9141.

Then we can determine how to get any links updated after you are on 5.1.4 and we can think about it at leisure.

I've made the change recommended and now upgraded did complete.

So.. how can I now perform '9136'?

Thanks,

I would start by asking if you actually need to. Try checking some old links in posts - maybe even pre-V5 links in posts to see if they are at all corrupted... If they are Ok then you don't need anything done.
