I just installed SimplePress and have not installed any simplepress plugins
I am the administrator so hava all Simple Press privs, I checked.
However when I try to upload my avatar image, I am unable to do so.
Attached are screenshots of what I am seeing.
What am I missing?
really? after but 4 hours??
is that a complete screenshot of the profile area?
have you checked on forum – integration – storage locations and checked that the avatar storage location is set up properly?
So here is further update for the admin user
I (the admin) had to create a usergroup, forum group and forum and only then the upload avatar box showed up for me (the admin).
I have another user whose membership is ‘members’
Only when I gave standard access of the forum to ‘members’ could this user see the upload avatar box. When I take away access of ‘members’ to this forum or just give read forum access to ‘members’, the upload box does not show up.
And yes the location seems right.
What is the problem?
PS: Sorry got a little too antsy. As I kept trying and trying to get it to work. 
so I assume you assigned this members usergroup to a forum with a permission set… does the permission set give them permission to upload avatars?
you can see on forum – permissions – manage permissions for the permission set in question… and yes, a bit of duplicity in the option and the permission…
Hmm interesting – it’s a bit confusing to have profile-related permissions be tied to a Forum.
For example, if I have an Admin user he should be able to upload an Avatar to his Profile without having to create a Forum.
The real problem starts when a user has 2 memberships.
Consider the following scenario:
1) I have created a premium Platinum Group.
2) The Platinum Group has a permission set which allows Avatar upload.
3) The default Members group which gets assigned to all users has a permission set which does not allow avatar upload.
4) The Platinum Group has access to the Platinum Forum.
5) The default Members group does not have access to the Platinum forum
6) There is a user who gets assigned to the Platinum Group and has Premium access to the Platinum forum. By default he also get the Member group.
7) This user is unable to upload an Avatar on his Profile screen – the upload option does not show up.
I think this is happening because the default Member group has a permission set which does not allow avatar upload.
So even though the user is a member of the Platinum Group which has avatar enabled. He is unable to upload his avatar.
for avatars, its not forum based, per se… the global permission is used… that is, if they have the upload avatar permission on any ‘forum’, they will be able to upload avatars… they will get the ‘best’ permission…
Ok here is a further update.
After I enabled the avatar for the ‘No access’ and then disabled it again. My scenario in the above usecase started working. Meaning the user is able upload his avatar even though the default ‘Member’ group has the avatar disabled permission set.
