When you say 'How do you know where something is, lets say a php file?', do you mean a php file? Or a rule within a php file?We mostly use browser tools such as firebug, or a browser default inspector. It's not always obvious where something is, especially as everything builds into one list so the 'line' is always wrong. But if you inspect something, you can always select the #ID and class above the rule you want to change, copy it, press control+f in notepad++ and search for it in the stylesheet if that helps.
Yea, thanks...I mostly figured it out. Much easier to use Chrome's dev tools and notepad++ to make changes.
It's definitely worth finding one you like using! Personally get on best with FF inspector but mainly because it's the one I'm used to so I'm quick with it.
If you start playing around with mobile, Chrome is definitely the way to go. Hands down it has the best responsive design view I've used, and no need for extra plugins for things like user agents as they come included.

Can you explain what you mean by 'group break'?
That vertical line to the left of replies. That's what it's called div.groupbreak. Additionally, would it be possible to add stats underneath the bread crumbs in the spforumviewheader? Let's say top poster, then have that person's avatar there...etc?
The groupbreaks just separate out the columns - So if you want to move something next to a groupbreak it would just be the first or last rule in a column (i.e either side). I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say "new" though! Last I saw of it Andy had said it would have to be custom code.. Can you elaborate?
If you are talking about squeezing something in next to the topic icon, you might need to widen the column. Be careful as that can have a knock on effect to the other columns. Aim for about 99% width overall!
As to the stats under the breadcrumbs, I would have to have a play around locally before posting a method, won't have a chance to do that until later. Maybe Andy or Steve can point you in the right direction, if not I will take a look..

By new I mean adding an icon that would alert someone that this thread has a new reply, though I'm assuming it can't be done? It would be cool if I could add something like Top Poster and next to this their forum avatar.
we already have icons that change when there is a new icon... are you not seeing a custom forum icon when unread in the forum?
where would top poster come from? just something you assign? if so, take a look at forum - components - forum ranks... namely the special ranks...

I changed my forum to show the user's avatar on the left column where the stock icons were: http://www.ohhtee.com/forum/guests/ here's the open forum in case you need to see. The top poster I was thinking to pull it from the actual stats from the bottom (no clue how I would do that), or let's say the person who receives the most thanks (no clue how I would do that)...etc. People love seeing their stats and be recognized, which they then engage even more in the forum.
