Is there a recommended plugin for simple registration forms?
I don't like the way wordpress does it - there must be a simpler way for new users to register? Preferably a form where the user picks their own password and then just has to click a confirmation link in the email?
Thanks
Yellow Swordfish... You asked me yesterday what I using for my signup forms... did either you or Mr Papa deactivate anything in my WP account? I can no longer find the forms I was using.
By the way, I have now solved all of the other issues... I removed the WP multisite installation and did a fresh reinstall of Simple:Press. Fixed everything 🙂
That is great news. Certainly if you do not need MS for running a community of websites then reverting to standard WordPress will make your whole website management and experience easier. By a long way!
No - nothing was deactivated. We have a very strict policy of only doing what we are asked and, if more is needed, consulting first. I DID try and uninstall our File Uploader plugin but that was all. I figured that the registration form and process was a part of your theme but I do not know for sure.
There are quite a few plugins available that can enhance the site registration process. As with the discussion right at the start of your topics yesterday - it is important to have one that does fire off all the required WP actions. I am afraid I am a little rusty on what is out there as old ones vanish and new ones come along. One that I know people have had success with (including a colleague here at SP) is called 'Theme my Login' which is oddly named as it does more than just allow styling and does allow the user to created their own password. And it DOES do what it is supposed to do. Another that used to be popular but I have not heard much about recently was called, if I recall correctly, Registration Redux. All available from the WP Plugin repository.
