Support Forum
Hi,
I've just installed simple press. My site is with inmotion and I've loads of space and nothing even added yet.
However, I added a long forum post about 100 lines and it crashed with some type of size error. I then reduced it to 50 lines or so, to use two posts to get across content, but even now with just one post of 50 lines, it takes a full 30 seconds to load.
So, I've a brand new installation, just two users and two posts on site and loads of space free with server. Yet already posts are taking a full unusable 30 seconds to load.
The link to the post is here; http://thehealthdelusion.com/?.....references
Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Aidan
We have a recently discovered issue with displaying posts with large numbers of links in them which we are currently investigating. This is most likely the main problem.
One workaround for this is, if you are not using it, to go to the WP Settings > Media admin panel and turn off the option to use auto-embeds. Meanwhile we hope we will have a proper fix in place soon.

They look the same as they did before as it happens.
forum admin > options > content settings. See the option for the 'URL shortening limit'.
I think I have been equally responsive, helpful and polite in my replies so perhaps a little less of the sarcasm would be nice. And maybe spending a little time looking through the options would also prove beneficial.

Apologies.
I assure you no I intended no sarcasm in my posts. I presume you mean my prior posting, as the first reply was with 100% appreciation.
The next post was just the after realisation that the links were now not performing correctly. I'm very much a newb with these things, and genuinely believed, I would now simply have to wait for the fix. It is my fault for writing a post in haste before attending to something, that I allowed it open to misinterpretation.
Thank you for still taking the time to point out the fix to me. I still look forward to the fix when it is done, as the links will look that bit neater shorted in the posts, with their being so many. However, you have given me a perfect workaround to use and I am very appreciative.
Your response times and helpfulness have being amazing, and I feel bad that I came across as sarcastic or acrimonious.
Once again. Many Thanks
Aidan
Yes, thank you.
I have changed the url shortening limit from 40 to 0.
I initially preferred the truncated links, but with the turning off of the autoembed in wordpress the clickable part of link got cut off anytime there was a bracket in the link address it appears. Thus if you clicked it would not find the page.
But now with the full links displayed, it's that bit less neat looking - so I hope you find a fix in your investigation- but more importantly the whole address is now clickable, and that is what matters as it allows me to continue working on the posts.

large number being dozens... and it comes down to the wp oembed processing... so if you dont oembed videos, you can turn that off in wp media settings...
but no improvement yet...

Thanks,
I'm after making a mistake, which might have caused some confusion.
So I am displaying dozens of links, and I dont need video embed, so switch if off, perfect. Much appreciated.
So the other, separate issue (which I erroneously thought was linked to locking off autoembed but isn't) is that I want to display truncated links, but can not as any link with a bracket in it '(, )' breaks the link.
So for example
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pu…..)%3A1872-9.
The link gets broken after the bracket.
The full link address is really ...ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=J%20Natl%20Cancer%20Inst.%202001%20Dec%2019%3B93(24)%3A1872-9
Is there anyway to fix this. I can turn off 'shorten urls', but hopefully there is a way to kep truncated urls yet include brackets in the link.
Many Thanks
Aidan
