Since my switch from Headway to Genesis for my theme, and from BlueHost to Synthesis for hosting, my forums are showing bizarre formatting, adding a huge block of blank space above each post or reply.
Screenshot attached.
Any suggestions for how to fix?

Basically the width you have allowed for the forum display is a bit too narrow.Few things you can do.
See if can widen the WP theme, Try the Stacked SP theme or edit the theme you currently use to a bit narrower columns. You may want to try the first two first. You can also see how the dropdowns for recent/new forum posts has slid over the search box and when/if you add more features like post ranking, tags, statuses or the like the buttons above the post will fill up quickly and start overlapping.

Good deal.
Nothing wrong with a narrow WordPress theme and using Simple:Press I have created several SP themes that fit nicely into a narrow WordPress theme but the default theme you are using does require more width than you had. The Stacked theme that is free to download and use works good in a narrow WP theme also.
