You changed the auth option - which an optional permission.
You need to change the menu name. After all - it is the name that gets displayed.

Thanks for your help. I am impressed about the support. I think I have sorted out almost all translation issues (btw, I came across other real bad German translations, some outright wrong and embarrassing). At the moment two issues remain:

1. The welcome message in the profile overview is not part of a mo-file, if I am correct. It occurs however in the spa-support.php file in lines 523-528:

# overview message
    $spProfile = sp_get_option('sfprofile');
    if (empty($spProfile['sfprofiletext'])) {
        $spProfile['sfprofiletext'] = 'Welcome to the User Profile Overview Panel. From here you can view and update your profile and options as well as view your Usergroup Memberships and Permissions.';
        sp_update_option('sfprofile', $spProfile);
    }

However, if I change the text here it does not change in the forum. Actually one can delete this code block and the welcome message still appears in the forum. I have no idea, where to change it.

2. Where can I change the following admin labels and tooltips in the forum which appear at the top: View New Posts, Unread, Need Moderation, Spam.

I could not find them in any mo-file.

Not correct. This is one of those message labels that is not part of the mo file because it often needs to be personalised and could well be inaccurate if you removed some of the menus/tabs. You can personalise this label in the profile options in the forum admin. There are several examples of this in the forum admin and it is worth spending a little time looking through them all.

These are from the 'admin bar' plugin.

On a general note regarding translations: The quality of any translation is only ever going to be as good and as accurate as the people who actually volunteer to do the work can make it. Neither Steve or I can speak German, Polish, Hebrew, Swedish, Farsi..... so we can not check the validity of localised text. Users volunteer to perform these translations for no reward and we - and our users - are dependent upon their efforts for which we are grateful. It is a community effort and we would hope that when mis-translations or inaccuracies are discovered then the same community will correct them for the benefit of all.

In other words - without wishing to sound too critical - you do have the opportunity here to let others benefit from your corrections just as you have benefited from the original work.

Thanks. Was at the admin page but overlooked it at the right hand bottom. And I checked the admin bar translations, searched for it, but probably also overlooked the search result. Guess I need glasses.

Translations: I am aware of the situation, but nevertheless was somewhat surprised as there are German volunteers, which can approve translations and I assumed that they have some advanced knowledge of German grammar, etc. Many translations are fine, but there are still too many mistakes. I was just an remark that those guys should be aware of the problems. I am myself an editor and know how difficult it is to get rid of mistakes.

Certainly I can provide my translations, but translation are always interpretation and I did not want to enforce my translations on the project. I took sometimes the freedom to be a bit more explict and did not cling to the English words or syntax. Keep it up!
