Andy I changed the SP core back to English and block = lock, someone translated it like that...
The question still stands: what does it do locking a topic in a forum? Thanks

Andy just to check if I get it.
Here I am talking about the meaning of locking a topic, in the other post of locking a subforum. So in general "locking" means that the topic/forum is still viewable but nobody can add a reply/topic in it?

You can lock a forum in the admin > edit forum.
You can lock a topic in the popup topic tools on the front end.
And yes - it means people can no longer create new topics/posts. With that exception their permissions remain the same.
