Our site is a social network, with Buddypress as the core social network platform, ie albums, activity, groups, friends, but simple press is the core forum platform.

Therefore most of our plugins are geared towards Buddypress and here is the problem, BP Profile search does not at present support simple:press fields, this is preventing members searching for other members easily or accurately from their custom profile fields.

The author of BP profile search says she is more than willing to work with you you resolve the coding that necessary please contact her here

andrea@dontdream.it

I look forward to your speedy resolution for this.

ps I have pm'd all the Simple:admin our site and your temporary access information

can you be more specific as to what you hope to accomplish here?  are you using both sp and bp profiles?  or are you using our integration plugin and only using bp profiles?  do you have different custom fields between the two?

the bp profile is populated with data taken from the sp profile, ie name, country, gender etc however at present when you go to the "members page" http://fuck4real.org/members/ you can only search by name. We want to change that so you can search by country and gender as well.

The author of bp profile search states that some coding will need to be done as bp profile search currently does not support sp fields, as stated she is willing to work with you on this.

So these are sp custom profile fields?   Pass along to the dev they are stored just like standard wp profile fields... That is, as user meta... So the meta name will match the slug of the name you gave the customer profile field when you created it....

So if they store their profile data like wp does,  it should simple... If they store differently, they will probably have to do a wp user meta query...

I will pass that onto her, but it may be easier if you spoke with her.

BP PROFILE SEARCH AUTHOR REPLY.

"I know that BP Profile Search could support Simple:Press and the many dozens of plugins and themes that create their own user profile fields, but then BP Profile Search would become very big and very difficult for me to maintain.

That's why I'd prefer Simple:Press to include support for BP Profile Search instead, and I'm available to help them if they are interested."

and of course the converse is just as true... which is why we used STANDARD wp storage for profile data..  so any other plugin using wp profile data would get direct access to the sp custom profile fields...

seems we are going around in circles here, she has offered to work with you to sort this out,for free you are being paid for support, so are you going to work with her and fix it ? It seems a simple thing that would benefit her plugin, your plugin , my site and potentially many others sites.

circles indeed...  we are every bit as willing to work - we have even passed along how to pull our data (just like standard wp data)...  this is clearly a pull issue, not a push issue... the profile needs to pull the data, not have it pushed...

also, since we have no idea how that plugin works and it would be totally custom and only for that singular plugin, it certainly makes more sense for the profile side to pull any and all data...

and not sure why you think our support would include creating custom code vice supporting our code...
