I know you said it made no difference but just for my sake !! could you change the permissions used by the 'regulars' and 'members' groups to either be 'edit until reply' or 'edit forever' but not both?
let me know when that is done and I will get back onto your site.

ah... interesting. When I look at my user profile on your site I see that I have both options set but in your admin they are not. Now this doesn't explain why the edit button is showing up but might be an important pointer.
We have had a few small number of niggling issues with users auths table and I am starting to think we need to look at yours. So it's database access time again! Sorry about that. Do you want em to to do it? If so you will need to resend db url and credentials again. If not I can try and explain in detail what to look for....

Much prefer if you had a look.
Thanks, you have a PM.

OK - sfauths table is good and healthy.
I know you have tried this but can you please go to the toolbox > housekeeping and click on 'reset the auths cache' once again for me? It doesn't actually look like it has been done...
I will keep the database open so I can see the result after you do that.

I think there is a small flaw in the code (already fixed for the next update) but this is being exacerbated by one of your settings which I think is incorrect.
The forum 'Off Music Topics' has assigned the 'Regulars' user group with the 'moderators' permission set. Would I be correct in thinking that for this forum - as with the others - that 'Regulars' should be paired with 'Standard Access'?
I think if you change that then the problem should be corrected. This situation, coupled with our error in the code is almost certainly responsible.
And now I am eager to know if this is it!
