Can I sort a forum's thread titles A-Z?

I want to add a new sub forum. I will create a sticky thread within the forum for each England's canals and rivers where users will be able to add cruising notes. There are, at a guess, 70 canals and rivers to list so I want to be able to sort the thread titles - the names of the waterways - A-Z so users can find the waterway they're looking for without too much trouble.

Am I able to sort them like this?

we have sorting options on topics within forums by the topic id... either ascending or descending...

however, we do have a filter on the query that grabs the forum view data (ie the topics).. so you could hook into the query and change the sorting by topic title instead of id...

do you know how wp hooks work?

In was a little concerned about your suggested model. To only allow 1 thread per canal - where all posts can be posted - seems very limiting. Would not a sub-forum for each canal be better - allow for multiple topics etc...

Yes, a sub forum for each canal would be better. Can I order the sub forums?

You can re-arrange the display order of forums and sub-forums within the "manage groups and forums' panel of the forum admin. With so many though - it might e worth trying to set them up alphabetically to start with! Save time later...
