Can you create a new linked blog post from a forum post - like you can a forum post from a blog post?

I've been using the blog plugin for a while now to allow me to create new forum posts that are linked to my blog posts. But I'm wondering if there is a way to do this in reverse?

I have several forum posts from members that I'd like to feature on my blog's home page. I'd like to be able to just click a button and turn them into a linked blog post. I seem to remember a post about this from over a year ago, but I can't seem to find it.

Thanks!

Its all part of the same plugin... when creating a new topic in the forum, you can select data to make it a linked blog post...

I see how you can select to make a topic that you've created a forum post (in case others are wondering, it's accomplished by clicking on the option right above the "Save Topic" button when creating a new topic), but I can't seem to turn a topic that someone else has created into a forum post. I can edit their topic, but I don't see any option to turn it into a forum post. Can it be done?

Basically I have a few members who I'd like to have writing content for my website, but they don't want to learn how to use WordPress, they'd prefer to continue to use the forum because it's less complex.

But I don't think they have the ability to choose to make one of their forum topics a blog post (or do they?). So I was hoping that I could just "promote" their topics to turn them into blog posts.

Right now I have to copy/paste the content from their forum topic into a new blog post, and delete their original forum topic. And if there have been any comments to their original forum topic the comments are gone (because the new blog post is linked to a new forum topic ... with no comments).

There may be some crafty way around this, but I was hoping to be able to just edit their topic and click the "link to blog" option. Thanks!

You should be able to turn on the permission for them to create linked blog posts and forum topics. They should then see the option when creating a new topic.

Yea, but if I do that then I don't have the ability to proofread what they post before they post it to the home page. Hmmm. So there isn't a way for me to link it to a new forum post once it's been created by someone else then, correct?

No, once the forum topic has been created, you cannot have it create a new linked blog post...

so are you saying you dont trust the folks who can post on your blog?  and want to moderate them?
