Support Forum
My forum has suddenly stopped allowing members, including me as admin, to reply to posts or make new posts.
Nothing happens when I click on the Add Reply button, while clicking the Add Topic button brings me to the main forum group page, but no dialog box to create new posts.
I have disabled all the plugins on my site except for Simple Press, but it is still not working.
Any suggestions?
Do you get any errors?
If you use the SP File Uploader plugin, deactivate that then check this post and those that follow in that threadfor how to fix the issue.
If not, check the SP error log and server logs. Or try using the Firefox Web Console and provide any errors you notice.
Simple:Press powers the Tripawds Discussion Forums.

Thanks Jim!
I will also add - Make sure you're not caching the forum page. If you're running anything that caches your site or something that 'increases performance' make sure the forum page is excluded as it's dynamic and shouldn't be cached.
If none of the above helps, what has changed? If it suddenly stopped working can you pinpoint something that might have caused this? I.e a newly added plugin, a plugin update, a theme update etc..
Also could you confirm that everything is up to date such as WP, WP theme and plugins, SP and SP plugins.
Jim and Ike, thank you for your replies and suggestions.
Jim, no, I did not get any error messages when clicking on the buttons to post or reply. There is simply no response when I click on the Add Reply button.
Nonetheless, I deactivated the SP File Uploader plugin and refreshed the page, but still, with the same result.
Where can I find the SP error log? I have looked through the various subdirectories via File Manager in cPanel but can't seem to find it.
Ike, I used to have the WordFence plugin which cached the site for speedier loads, but have since removed it. Currently, I do not have anything that caches my site or increases performance.
My site went down 2 weeks ago, and to get it back up again, my webhost company moved all the plugins to a back up folder.
I then created a new plugins folder under the wp-content directory and copy over the essential plugins for my site, including Simple Press and then reactivated them again.
This was the major change over the past 2 weeks. Prior to that, the site was humming along nice and members were still able to post, as far as I know. After the site came back up again, that is when members informed me they were unable to post anything in the forum.
I confirm that everything is up to date, including the latest updates for WP and themes and plugins, including SP and SP plugins.
I am at a loss what to do next. Any other suggestions?
If anyone would like to see the issue I am facing, I have made a test account on my site at http://www.ehangar.com.

There is a script error being shown on all pages of your site. This may be the cause (note the 'may' there!)
It seems to be something, as far as I can tell, to do with an animated scroll to the top of the page feature. And this is causing an error which is possibly stopping the jQuery library from working properly. My guess is also that this is coming from the WP theme.
It may be that it is using a script command that is no longer supported by jQuery and requires updating. A lot of WP theme authors have been caught out with the latest WordPress which updated the use of jQuery to the latest version.
This is something that needs fixing regardless of whether it is the main cause as it will stop some things working. If it is any help the code being used that is causing the error is:
$('a[href=#top]').click(function() (etc)
A quick change to the default WP theme of course, will prove if this is a contender for the forum problem you are seeing.

very likely the cause as jQuery no longer supports that syntax... the hash part (ie #top) must now be contained in quotes (single or double)...
