I can not add a topic or a reply when I am logged in as an administrator. I can add a topic and add a reply if I log in as an ordinary user. What do I have to set to allow the admin user to add topics and add replies to forums.

Nothing really - admins get all permissions... Is this a new install, upgrade, or one that has existed for a while?

Can you check your db? For the sfauths table, the admin_negate column, how many rows have a 1?

There are two rows with a 1 in the admin_negate column. they are reply_own_topics and view_own_admin_posts. Is it alright to turn them off? This has been installed awhile but not used much. We are concentrating on getting people to use it more.

No - just those two is exactly right. Let's try this...

Forum Admin > Toolbox > Housekeeping: Try clicking on the task to reset user auths. See if that corrects things.

I am at Version: 5.4.0    Build:  10914

I did not see a option to reset user auths but there was one to clear the cache which I did. I also did reset profile tabs. Now I will try it again. No change, I could capture a video to show what I am doing, would that help?

Let's go back to the start. Steve asked if it has been upgraded? Is it possible it used to be a version 4 forum?

I don't know. I just did the updates. I think I installed it last year in June?

Is this a busy, active forum with lots of forums and topics? If not then what I would like you to try should sort things but it would mean going into your 'Manage Groups and Forums' and re-assigning User Groups and Permission relationships. Not really a big task unless you have a very large number of forums.

But - if willing - could you go to the forum admin > Permissions > Reset Permissions and run the task,

Now this should never have to be used unless some sort of corruption creeps in for some reason. I asked if you had been using V4 before as we had a small number of users whose permissions became corrupt on upgrading from V4 to V5 which. sadly, we never could replicate or diagnose.

I did the reset and went back into the forums and gave the Destiny Member Standard access to all the forums. I logged on a Destiny Member and everything worked. I then logged in as Administrator and that is what the video shows. What I can not do as an Admin. Oops can't upload a .swf file. Will put it someplace where you can view it.

I added another video with a regular member and then an admin ID with narrative.

I am sorry - i have misunderstood from early on that what you actually meant was that you do not get the editor showing up. This is a completely different sort of issue.

You most probably have a JavaScript conflict - your wp theme or another plugin - which needs to be fixed. This codex article explains what this means and what to look for:

http://codex.simple-press.com/.....-conflict/

This probably comes down more likely to a plugin that is aimed at WordPress administrators which is adding something that might not even be necessary on the public facing side of your website. If you know how to use your browser console that will show any errors that the site is having.
