Just saw the notice to upgrade to latest stable version, the notice references a "changelog" but wihtout linking to said changelog, and I am unable to find it on this site.  I would like to review the changelog before updating.  Where can I find this elusive changelog?

Hey Patricia,

When you view the WP update page you should see a 'View Details' link where you can see the changelog.

Hope that helps!

Hello Ike,

Thanks for the very quick reply, however, no such luck.

On the WP Update page, for the Simple:Press Plugin, the message is this:

"Latest version available: 5.6.3.1 Build: 13877 - Simple:Press Version 5.6.3 Release, Build 13875 is now available for download. See the changelog for complete details. Please note, this version of Simple:Press requires WP 4.3.
For details and to download please visit Simple:Press or update automatically"

The link to "Simple:Press" simply goes to the home page, the other obviously would update the plugin.  There is no "details" page linked to as other plugins do - most when you click on "details" they open the update details in an overlay that includes a "changelog" as either the active tab or in another tab.....some contain a link to the changelog on the plugin's website.

I always review the change log first because this is a large live site with a lot of plugins, and I can't afford to have the site go down due to a conflict caused by an updated plugin.   I do backups first, but even a short downtime while doing a recovery can cause losses.   And while it isn't always feasible to setup a stage site to test plugin compatibility, but I do it when there are enough major changes to cause a concern.

SO any ideas on where the changelog for the 5.6.3.1 build: 13877 might be hiding? 🙂

Odd. I can not look myself as I am all up to date but whenever I go to that specific WP update pager when an update is due there is always a 'details' link that shows the changelog for that version.

However - if not there, then have you actually tried the forum admin > toolbox... (cough cough) > change log? 🙂

Hi again @Yellow Swordfish, as always I appreciate your assistance 🙂

I can only recall the last update I did to the version I have now, which was quite a long time ago - it was before the site went live so I was not as concerned about updating, but I do clearly recall being stumped then at not finding a changelog......I just thought "eh, whatever" and updated anyway.  Now that the site is live I'm forced to be more cautious.   I haven't updated since 5.5.9 because we made a concept change and took the forum offline.  Mgmt recently did a 180 and asked to have it back online, so I reactivated the plugin today and saw the update notice.

I did check Admin >Toolbox and it shows the changelog for the current version and previous only, not the yet-to-be-updated newest version, but I do appreciate the suggestion, one never knows where one will find something useful!

I welcome any other suggestions - or a direct link to the changelog 🙂

All the change logs are there on that admin page. Did you not use the selection list at the bottom?

<slaps head> D'oh!!

@Yellow Swordfish, thank you very much for your patience with me.  I did not even notice that dropdown before......didn't scroll down far enough since it was (as you'd expect) in reverse order.

Perhaps that dropdown might be better placed at the top?  Would help blondes like me, LOL.
