Hi.

I noticed this message where my forum used to be in the members section of my website:

Sorry, the forum is temporarily unavailable while it is being upgraded to a new version.
Click here to perform the upgrade

When I click on "Click here to perform the upgrade" I get the message "Upgrade Simple:Press From Version 5.4.0 to 5.4.1 (Build 10914 to Build 11023)"

When I click 'Perform Upgrade' it says 'Upgrade is in progress - please wait' but never completes.

I tried manually downloading and installing the plugin but that didn't help.

I checked my php error logs and there are no errors listed.

I am running WP v3.8.1

Any help would be most appreciated!

Cheers

any errors reported in the browser console when you click upgrade?  might also be worth turning on the wp_debug option in the config file for more details...

Hi.Thanks for the quick reply.

Didn't notice anything obvious in the browser console.  I turned up wp_debug,  still no errors. Just "Upgrade is in progress - please wait"

Happy to pm you admin login if it is easier for you to look for yourself.

Cheers

Hmmm... not sure where to start...  lots and lots of javascript errors in the backend...

some mu plugin called notes admin bar is just throwing a bunch and killing all js...

additionally something in the admin is loading an external copy of jquery (and an old version)... its conflicting with the wp version of jquery...  loading another jquery is very bad, especially in the admin (wp actually tries to prevent it, but can be overcome)...

you also have several plugins out of date... and a ton of other ones that are inactive... so gets confusing...

but you will need to sort those errors to help with the upgrade...  not sure where this must load (not a regular plugin) notes admin bar plugin is coming from, but first thing I would try doing it disabling it...  then find out which one is violating the wp standards loading the wrong jquery...

Thanks for having a look. I will talk to the web developer and see if he can sort out those errors. Will post update when this is done.

Cheers

please do...  you can see all those js errors just by having the browser console open (ie firefox and firedebug, but IE, chrome and others have them too)...  the errors will be shown when you hit upgrade...

Managed to complete the upgrade by disabling the WP theme and re-enabling it after the upgrade was complete. All working fine now.

Thanks for your help.

That can do it and that confirms where the conflicts are... Good news anyway..
