Hey guys,

I just downloaded and installed today, but I can't add a new topic. There's a tiny "new topic" icon next to each forum, but when I click it, nothing happens. I also don't see the handy "add topic" bottom like on your demo site. Any idea how I can fix these things?

If you look at the urls on the links then you will see they are all OK but when you click on one of them they are being rejected and redirected back to the front page every time.

So... do you haver any redirection plugins active as these an do it. Do you have the Yoast WP SEO plugin active? Or anything that you think may be causing the forum urls to redirect?

I do have Yoast WP SEO active, but I don't have any redirects enabled. I also don't have any redirect plugins.

I tried deactivating Yoast and trying it again, but that didn't make a difference. I tried the same thing with my WP Security plugin.

There is a setting within Yoast - something to do with what they call 'ugly permalinks'. If I recall correctly this has to be allowed. For some reason they call the forum permalinks 'ugly'.

So - if that is not the issue and no other redirection going on then it might be time to ask your hosting support to see if that can work out why the forum permalinks are not being actioned.

Actually - before you do that - also go to the forum admin > Integration > Page and Permalinks and try clicking on the 'update forum permalinks' button about half way down. See if that helps. But do remember to check the Yoast SEO setting first.

So...I tried both SEO ugly settings and updating forum permalinks, and that didn't change anything. So once I contact Godaddy and they can't do anything, does that mean I can't use this plugin?

GoDaddy couldn't do anything. It's on a dreaded windows server. Could that be the issue? My clients bought this web hosting package forever ago and to switch it to a linux server would mean the site would be down for a couple of days and they don't want to do that.

Since Simple:Press uses canonical urls my guess would be that the Windows IIS server is either not setup correctly in it's redirects or there is an issue with the HTaccess file.

Maybe explain to Go Daddy that is what you are using and they can take a look there.

we have users on windows servers - they are just far in the minority for servers...  and plenty on godaddy...

so as a check, have done a temp switch to the default wp theme?  and then tried disabling all other plugins... just gathers more info...
