found the dinosaur hard-coded jquery and removed it from template... and TADA everything works amazingly

Oh that really is great news. Sometimes it feels like you blame this stuff on a theme but you're never quite sure if that really is the culprit... so you feel like you are just passing the buck. But always nice to get one right :)
