My new forum in the subdomain seems to work well and I was ready to copy/paste the posts from the old forum.  But, I can't edit.  The page reloads and nothing happens.

I can go to tools and change the topic, but cannot edit.

I get an error about an insecure connection, probably because this is a multisite install and I cannot update the permalink.

I can post too, just can't edit.    Any idea why?

Don't want to put a lot of effort into this, but really need to be able to "edit" and then go to source code so I have all the formatting in the new forum.

As an aside - if you `are simply moving all the topics and posts from one place to another could you have not just moved there whole forum...

OK - I don't get a sense of what is actually happening wen you try this. Can you walk me through it step by step? And when the page reloads in what should be edit mode - does the url have a fragment at the end - #spEditFormAnchor?

There were conflicts with members from another plugin and it's a multisite install, so I thought I'd just get a fresh start and copy 20 or 30 posts.

The URL is just the post link after I click on edit:
https://highdesertdirt.com/for.....ls-system/

After the "insecure content" warning I click to proceed and it reloads the page.

When I go to edit the topic title, I do NOT get the error re. insecure content and it works fine.

I thought maybe I could change the permalink in SP somewhere in the database, at the blog everything redirects to https just fine (htaccess).

so are you trying to use https (ie ssl)?  seems so...  have you updated the wp domain the forum is on to be ssl?  what about the forum permalink on forum - integration - page and permalink?

Yeah, everything is ssl now, but I can't update the WP permalink because it's multisite (wish I'd NEVER installed multisite!)  So the htaccess takes care of it.

And I can't update the forum permalink, that's why I wondered about changing it in the db directly.

You just gave me an idea, I'll try taking out the redirect to https and see if I can edit then. It would only be a couple hours.

so you have wp running non ssl, but then tried to do ssl on one of the network sites via the .htaccess file??  not really sure how that will work...  since simple press is a plugin for wp, we interact with wp...  we ask wp for the schema and it will tell us if ssl or not...  so not sure how that would work...

why cant you update the forum permalink???  its just clicking on a button on forum - integration - page and permalink... though as above, if wp is not ssl, we are not likely to think it is either...

but no reason you cant change it in the db (its what the button does)... in sfoptions, just find the sfpermalink option and change to what you want...  can always change it back...

The entire mulitsite is ssl, but I can't change the permalink to ssl because it's multisite and that's what the forum picks up when I click on integration, http instead of https and that causes the problem.

I just took the redirect to https out of the htaccess and editing works now.   Easier for me than messing with the database as I haven't done that in quite a few years and it's not that many posts.
