can't login

I’ve actually got 2 forums, one I clean installed myself and it’s working fine.

The second one (www.jockrock.org/forums since you ask) is a pretty large conversion from phpbb which has a lot of usernames (including several of my own).

Problem is that when I hit the login button I get up the name/password screen, but ok’ing it just takes me back to where I was – no error message, but I”m not logged in either (oddly, I was getting a similar problem on the phpbb board, surely unrelated?)

One odd thing is that it says “Welcome back admin Please log in to post”. It says this in whatever browser I use, and I tried it on my phone – for the first time ever – and same message & result.

I even tried another username – subscriber only – and it has the same result, as it was when I created a brand new user.

I’m not sure if everyone can see the admin message or if it’s just me – I’m also not sure of the relationship between SP and WP users, but my ‘other’ username’s permissions look ok, should be able to login at least. (Not set up a new user yet, couldn’t get any button to appear and was concerned there might be a security hole if this was a bad install or convert)

(There is one issue, I have some caching software in play which has caused some oddness. But that’d not explain the message or the fact it’s on cookie-less browsers or new devices)

I might if it is displaying a cached page. It probably would be worth a quick check by disabling any caching plugin and see what happens.
