Change Forum page slug and end up with browser time out

Hi there,

I have changed the url of our forum, cleared the cache (also server cache) and end up with a browser error.

I found out that it has to do with the plugin Autoptimize.
When I deactivate the option "Optimize JavaScript Code?" the page loads properly.
If I optimize JS, this is how it looks:

Any idea what I can do about this?
I really need to use the JS optimization feature.

I am not sure which is the list of JS files used by the forum. Is there a comprehensive list?
I guess this also depends on the plugins in use.
Right now my exclusion list for JS files looks like this:

seal.js,
js/jquery/jquery.js,
recaptcha,gallery-masonry.js,
jquery.form.min.js,
sp-forum.js,
core.min.js,
widget.min.js,
mouse.min.js,
resizable.min.js,
draggable.min.js,
button.min.js,
position.min.js,
dialog.min.js,
menu.min.js,
wp-a11y.min.js,
autocomplete.min.js,
effect.min.js,
effect-slide.min.js,
p-common.js,
sp-forum-events.js,
printThis.js,
msdropdown.js,
tooltip.min.js,
jquery.tools.min.js,
plupload.full.min.js,
sortable.min.js,
jquery.ui.plupload.min.js,
foobox.min.js,
gravityforms.min.js,
jquery.json.js

I remember I had this browser issue before and I needed to exclude some files from Autoptimize. But I think i actually had all files in there and only a change in the forum URL should actually not need a change in my optimization settings. I have no clue what to do.

Let's look at it from a different angle. Why are you convinced that you 'really need it'?

Looking at that list - with the exception of 2 or 3 I am unfamiliar with - they are all fully optimised and minimised already as supplied by WP, SP or other sources. Attempting to optimise further is fraught with likely errors and a complete waste of time. And if you want to use it you are going to have to exclude most of that list - and check on the others to make sure they are not already minimised. All of the forum scripts are.

If it can help. I had the same error page by Google when I was setting up my forum. I solved by disabling caching and optimization on forum page.

Thanks. Of course caching is another one that can not work properly with a forum - at least not a generalised cache plugin. This recent short topic explains why - https://simple-press.com/suppo.....g/#p166044

Thanks for your replies.

The list I showed you was an exclusion list, which means that those scripts are not optimized when autoptimize is activated.

I am just wondering why it triggers an error when i already exclude the forum scripts. Probably not all scripts of the forum covered?

Server caching is deactivated for the forum. I will see if I can just exclude the whole forum from any optimization through autoptimize.

Thanks for the hints!

hard to tell, but doesnt look like complete forum js list... and as mentioned previously, ours is already compressed so compressing further tends to cause issues...

glad we could help...
