Hi Folks, i read the codex and everything, but I cant configure it properly, once again, i imported my old forum with 30.000 users...

I set my timezone inside WP-ADMIN to Madrid/Spain

but here comes the first one... the timezone doesnt change for existings users... and all users have their profile set to UTC ....

Where did i get lost? Can i change the time zone for all the existing users?

I notice that you edited the post above. So yes - new users will initially be set up with the timezone of the site (set in the wp admin) which, I assume, was set to UTC before you changed it. NEW users should inherit 'Madrid'. Existing users can change their own personal timezone in their SP profile.

The only way to change timezone settings for any user is via php code. So you could write a php script that would do it.

Hi Yellow Swordfish

First of all thanks for answering :)

I´m really loving simplepress (but i think it´s very difficult to configure completely) and things like this are not funny, :( and can be a nightmare.... on my personal case with those number of users... I would like to suggest to create a option for fix those things after the import.... one the "auto subcribe by default" and this one...  I dont have php script coding knowlements so i cant write those scripts :(

I note your comments and we can consider something like that in the future. As so often happens however, items like the timezone issue I do not believe has ever been asked for before. We tend to lean our development time more to features that are requested most often and have the most user support.

I believe we are unlikely to offer an automatic routine to turn on auto-subscribe to all users. In many parts of the world it would be considered potentially illegal as users are supposed to opt-in voluntarily to receive emails not have unsolicited emails sent by default. There is also the issue that with a lot of users their hosting will also not support such a potentially large number of emails being sent routinely.

Yellow Swordfish.. those problems come from importing from the old forum...

If i go back to bbpress... and the reimport to Simplepress with those options "on" will the users have the Correct TIMEZONE and the subscription by default?

yes...  new members by default get the timezone of the system...  they can then update them as needed...

there is not a good way to allow this after the fact...  what if some users had already updated their timezone while your server was still at UTC?  you would wipe out their updated setting...
