Hi

How do I change / remove the "?page_id=72" and "#p1" in my url address. See example of my url address. http://adaptmyhome.ie/?page_id.....athroom#p1

I am looking for a cleaner SEO url as per what works our simple-press.com website, as per https://simple-press.com/suppo.....al-topics/

I have set my permalinks to default as when permalinks are set to "Post-Name" or "Custom" the topics do not open.

that's based on your wp settings... go to wp - settings - permalink and
pick whatever kind of permalink structure you want for your site....
you currently have default selected...

Hi Mr Papa

I noted in my first post that when I change the settings in the wordpress-permalinks from the current default setting, I cannot open any of the forums / topics. At this moment I can only open the forums / topics when I set the default setting in wordpress-settings-permalinks.

There will be other reasons for that.
When you change the WP permalinks in the WP Admin then afterward go to the forum admin section > Integration > Page and Permalink and click on the update forum permalink button.

If things still do not show more than the 'front' page of the forum then some reasons could be the use of a redirection plugin. If you have one of those then you will need to exclude the forum slug from it. Another is using the Yoast SEO plugin. If you have that then you need to allow for what they call 'ugly permalinks'.

These are the most common so it is worth seeing if these are the issue

After setting wp Permalink did you update forum Permalink on forum -
integration - page?

If so, then likely a redirection plugin interfering or maybe seo plugin
like yoast seo.

No caching plugin, right?

Hi Yellow Swordfish.

Changing the Forum-integration worked, Thanks.

Also, the theme for this forum is very nice. Is there a gallery of free / paid theme examples available.

Would like to pick a professional looking theme and move on with content for the forum.

PS, final question, I have done some research online in how to run a successful forum. Is there any good ebooks / downloads available with a step by step guide on good practice on running a forum that you might be aware of.

not really sure what you are looking for on forum advice, but have always found lots of stuff at:  http://www.theadminzone.com/forums/

too bad they dont have a simple press section!

you can see our supplied themes here:  http://codex.simple-press.com/.....re-themes/

but default, iforum and stacked come with over a dozen overlay (color variations)... easier to use the theme and try a different overlay (its one click) on forum - themes - theme list...

are if you want a custom theme, see the banner in our sidebar for our custom theme service...
