Support Forum
Hello we could sure use some help. We were hoping for a smooth installation. Looks like we already ran into problems. We installed the latest wordpress on a brand new domain, with only Make theme and simplepress with no other plugins.
If you go to profiles, then Profile Options in the top right hand corner in the Display Profile Mode it has this fatal error: Call to undefined function is_plugin_active() in /home/forex/public_html/ftcmembersforum.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/admin/panel-profiles/forms/spa-profiles-options-form.php on line 71
There is also no save button on the profiles settings so you are not able to edit the settings and save them. we downloaded this version from your website.
We are also getting all kinds of notices. We are not doing anything complicated over here why all these issues?
The main thing we need help in is getting rid of the fatal error but in case you can also tell us what is up with all these notices that woudl be great too.
thanks Joe

Hey Joe,
Reference the error, this is a recent problem we've run into a couple of times and have a fix in place for the next release. In the meantime you can correct this yourself if you wish to, see this thread for more details.
As to why you have no save buttons that could come down to a conflict of some kind. Is this in your admin panel or on the forum itself?
Are you getting any errors on the page in question in the browser console? If you're not sure have you got a link for one of us to take a look?
Since you say all you have installed is SP and a WP theme, the logical thing to do would be to disable the WP theme, use a stock theme and see if the problem is resolved.
Hi thanks for your reply. The only place errors so far are showing up are in the places previously mentioned. The display mode box that is in the forum admin area under the menu item called profile Options. That spot is where it says it has the fatal error. Not sure when your next release is not sure if a fatal error will make the forum not work properly. It is also this same page that does not have the save changes button. All the rest of the admin menu area have the save button.
Also per SP instructions we were to find a full width theme. I dont know of any default theme and besides the Make theme we picked is also buddypress compatible for future expansion if we so choose. Is there not a better way to figure out why the save button is not on one of pages rather than trying a different theme. We already tried a different theme once and came up with the same issue.
Pretty sure this is a bug in the software. Our install is about as clean as you can get. I would be happy to give you login details privately so you can login and see yourself. The actual site is http://www.ftcmembersforum.com. by today or later it will be https://ftcmembersforum.com
I mainly need to know that the forum will work properly even with this fatal error as we are plugging this into an already running membership site.
As far as I can see from what's been reported so far the error doesn't affect functionality of the forum what so ever, but would prefer to rely on confirmation of that from Steve who has been looking in to it.
Regarding the button not showing up, I was really referring to errors in the browser console rather than the SP Error Log, but another thought - It's likely that the button not showing up might be caused by something that would show up in the PHP error log. Could you check that if you have access to it? You should be able to view through your hosting control panel and here we're looking for errors only, not notices.
I did forget to mention in my last post, referring to your notices question in your first post - Notices are harmless and can be ignored.
