Well it's easier if it is all of them!
I can only start with the most common problem and that is something blocking the AJAX request. Do you by any chance know how to use Firebug or any of the browser development JavaScript consoles?

Sorry no! I'm on a mac and have chrome and safari? I noticed that the URL changed at the top with an # at the end if that helps? almost like the command hasn't sent me anywhere?

Also whilst i'm here, how do I default the text size at it's biggest without users having to set it bigger?

would you be willing to look for errors for me? If so...

  1. Open Chrome and load your WP admin and open a forum admin panel.
  2. From the Chrome 'View' menu select 'Developer' and the 'JavaScript Console'.
  3. From the new toolbar that opens up click on 'Console' - probably far right.
  4. If there is any text in the console window click on the clear button (bottom status bar).
  5. Now load one of the problem admin panels, change data and click on Update.

Is anything reported in the error console window?

yes I get this:

POST http://www.colinbradleyartsoci.....form=email 406 (Not Acceptable)

Could that be mod security rules on my domain?

Sorry to be slow to answer.
I think mod_security is probably the most likely explanation. - the bane of every web developers life!
Can you ask your host to whitelist the forum admin calls? We have usually found them sympathetic.

Oh great news. I believe most of the main browsers now have some level of development tools available for them which has made tracking down problems like this much easier of course. And the CSS tools that allow you to inspect the CSS being applied to individual elements and change them in real time to see the result are just a fantastic aid to development.

Hi a really simple question, I hope?! - Where is the setting to stop asking math questions when a new user wants to post?

It's a permission so just turn On the permission to bypass the math question on the appropriate permission set(s)
