yups, the cache plugin. Sorry for the typo.

This error has again cropped up and refuses to go:
Clicking on nearly all forums takes to home-page, where as clicking on veterinary forum, takes to an editorial with same title.
No cache plugin active
I have tried resetting permalinks, rebuiliding forum indexes, renaming forum page, and even upgraded to the last beta built. No luck this time. 🙁

Remembered. I installed 'No Category Base' plugin and that is why this has cropped up this time.
But A large number of wordpress websites use this plugin to remove 'category' from their website url's, which wordpress forces. What would be the solution?

Tried disabling that plugin and it didn't help. So guess that one is not the culprit.
Plus the plugin was not there when the problem occurred earlier.
It is definitely related to some permalinks issue but I can't pin it. I have seen this error crop after installing some plugin. For eg it cropped up after installing private msging plugin for forums. Disabled it, resaved the permalinks and rebuilt the forum indexes and the forums started working again.
But this time nothing is helping.

I do not have any permalinks redirect plugin.
Do redirect some old pages and categories to new ones in htaccess
Yoast seo was there when this problem occoured. But read somewhere that it can cause issues so disabled and deleted it.

In despair I did lot many things. Reuploaded the forums, reinstalled the wordpress, removed seo and cache plugins, cleaned htaccess and what not - nothing worked. Then out of despair I started clicking the integration option. Unchecking this option finally made the links come alive again:
Filter WP list pages:
Can somebody tell me what this option does to the forum?

sometimes when the old wp_lists_pages() function is used to generate the nav menu at the top of many sites, it does so incorrectly and you can end up with the topic name showing up in the nav menu...
enabling that option attempts to remove topic name from the nav menu....
