Here's the URL:

http://problem-with-post-edit-.....-pots/#p10

I'm really frustrated because first I couldn't move the old forum, then I had problems at the new site (multisite) and finally got a new URL ONLY for the forum and still can't get any work done.

This is a RESOURCE forum and posts will frequently be updated.  But every time I edit this post, the links and sometimes even the formatting get messed up.

Lines are added or deleted, one time the fonts changed and the links are constantly DESTROYED.

This is so incredibly frustrating. What is going on?

Hey Christine,

Are you running any TinyMCE add-on plugins? Even admin side plugins for blog editing can cause knock on effects with the forum editor as it's really one and the same.

When this has happened in the past it's been down to some kind of conflict, are you able to use the browser console to see if anything is picked up?

Also, when you edit a post are you getting anything in the SP error log?

It has to be some sort fo conflict in fact as quite clearly this is not normal behaviour.

A problem here though is that as a guest we can not open the editor let alone try it. You might want to create an account for us to use so we can log in and see what the site is doung. If this is Ok with you then please PM credentials to both myself, to 'Mr Papa' and to 'Ike'. Please include in the PM a link to your site, a link to this thread and brief reminder of the problem. And one of us will take a look for you.

It would also be useful to know what WordPress plugins you have active...

Thanks for the quick reply.  This is a brand new WP install ONLY for the forum and my only WP plugins are Akismet and SP.  However, I'm using a bunch of SP plugins.

I'll PM you login info and maybe you can have a look.

Thanks!

Sadly, the account you set up has no apparent access to anything and as it is also not a Simple:Press admin user account there is nothing I am able to look at until changed.

Didn't realize I had to add a WP admin to SP.  I hope it works now.

doesnt have to be an admin necessarily, just has to have access to edit posts, for example... and an SP admin will give us more to look at...

does the same behavior happen with the default wp theme?

Talking of which,,, could you try turning on the option to 'Disable Headway Caching'. I have no idea whether this might be a problem but it does seem to be possibly interfering with page loads involving the editor.

I turned off caching and added some test links to the post and made some more edits.

It didn't mess up the new links, but deleted the spaces between paragraphs.

So I'll switch to the default theme next.

Is there a way to see the full links that were messed up somewhere or do I have to search for them again?

It seems that Headway is the problem.  That's odd, because I have used Headway for quite a few years and SP too, never had that problem.  But I haven't edited anything in at least half a year since I was trying to move the old forum. So maybe Headway changed something.

It sure looks awful now.
