What do you mean?  any icon you want can be a custom icon...  custom means you pick and supply the icon...

you upload them via forum - forums - custom icons...  then when creating a group or forum, you can assign custom icons to groups, forums and topics...  where the custom icons are stored is determined by your settings on forum - integration - storage locations...
