I do not see where it states the size that an icon should be for a group or forum?

and I do not find this Simple:Press Forum Resources Page from the wiki page?

The 'wiki' is old, version 4 specific stuff. You need the codex for V5 - link in the 'Information' menu at the top.

But... with V5 being template driven then really the size is uo to you. However, the default size on our themes is 32px x 32px.
