Ok, got it solved ( I hope ) ...

In the WP roles, when i added roles/capabilities, they had the same level as the default ones.  I changed all the levels so there were none with the same levels (two had level "0", two had level "1", etc.) and set them to all separate levels (this is in the WP roles manager, not Simple Press or Wishlist Member).

Seems to work fine now.

Simple things, lol.

Ok, new issue ... arrrgggghhh ... got the user group, member level, everything working fine, looking fine, access to the things I'm supposed to have access to (as a registered test user) ... I go to post topic or reply to topic, write post, answer the security questions at the bottom, save post, it says it's saved .... then nothing.  Goes back to list of groups and my post is no where to be found.

Went to admin panel under my id in separate browser, and no post are pending.

Double checked all permissions, seem ok.  It allows me to write and save a post, it just disappears then.

?

Ok, solved that ... had "needs moderator approval" and the math spam control and drag picture to box control ... took them off and now I can post just fine.  Weird.

Under my profile (remember, this is the test login), it shows I'm part of the right user group "Forum Member", but on my post under my name it just shows as "Member".  How do I get it to show as "Forum Member" etc for the usergroups?  Or is that just replaced by an icon badge i create and set to use there?

you are mixing things up...  Forum Member is a usergroup...  Member is a forum rank...  in the current version, badges can be shown for forum ranks and special ranks but not usergroups...  5.0.5 hopefully out this weekend, will add badges to usergroups...

so...  what you show there is driven by template tags in your theme...

so you are probably using sp_PostIndexUserRank() and instead want to use sp_PostIndexUserMemberships()...  our provided themes display forum ranks and not usergroup memberships...
