Both myself and other forum members are experiencing a delay in posts which we publish appearing on the forum. I have made just two changes to the site recently; I have upgraded my theme to Thesis 2.1 and I have installed the WP super cache plugin to speed up the site. Could either of these changes have caused the recent problems? If so is there a solution without removing either the Theme upgrade or the plugin?
Hey Paul,
Unfortunately I think WP Super Cache has caused delay problems in the past such as having to log out and log back in to see posts just made. Because the forum is dynamically displayed on one page, caching plugins will cause problems of this nature. I don't know whether you can 'exclude' the forum from super cache as I have not used it, but I do believe the plugin needs to be fully and properly uninstalled rather than disabled to allow the forum to function properly.
See how you get on
The cache plugin is great for static data - like blog posts and static pages. But forum dats is dynamic - changing all the time and different users might see different data depending upon the access controls you have set up. So - the bottom line is that you can not user the cache plugin with the forum. However - you can keep using it on the rest of you site.
There are options within the cache plugin settings to exclude certain pages. You need to exclude the forum page. Usually just entering the forum slug will do the trick (i.e., /forum - if that is the name of the page). This needs to be done on all types of caching you may have active.

The section which deals with excluding content says...
Add here strings (not a filename) that forces a page not to be cached. For example, if your URLs include year and you dont want to cache last year posts, it’s enough to specify the year, i.e. ’/2004/’. WP-Cache will search if that string is part of the URI and if so, it will not cache that page.
Do I add the following...
/forum
