Right. I wasn't implying there was an auto-update. I was trying to remember if I did a manual update sometime after 03-01. Apparently that's the case.

Steve, I'm a little lost when you suggest I should 'create my own theme' ... don't know the benefits of that. Regardless, wouldn't I still need to make a fix to spFunctions after each update?

No... once you make your own theme (copy one of ours as starting point) then yours will not be overwritten during updates and will continue working... 99% of our theme updates will be for new functionality and we feverishly work to maintain backwards compat so that your personal theme will continue to work with new releases of simple press... if there is new functionality added to simple press, you may need to add a new template tag to your theme to take advantage of that functionality, but that is consistent to how wp and its themes work...

its really simple and just involves copying one of ours and renaming it... then you have your own theme...
every release we make, if there are any theme modifications, we create a page in our codex and detail those changes so you could make the same ones if you want to yours... but again, for the overwhelming vast majority of times, you do not need to make any modifications to your theme for it to continue working with the new simple press... if those rare occasions do pop up, its almost always because of a core wp change that forces it...
