Some of my topics were imported from another website, and they had a different date there. Now I want to make sure that this date is consistent. I don't see how I can edit the date in this new topic created, what do I do?
BTW, hovering over my icon in the forums, an icon shows up and the text "open the forum toolset" pops up, but nothing happens when I click on the icon. Is it becuase I don't have proper credentials? I am admin under WP.
Thanks.
there isnt a UI for editing the post date after its been made... dont think anyone has ever asked for it either... not sure why the date would change...
if the forum tools dont open, its indicative of a js conflict... see: http://codex.simple-press.com/.....-conflict/
if you can give us a link to your site, we can look for obvious conflicts...

As the administrator of the website, I have been transfering topics from a forum created in another system (not WP). Now the problem is that these forums were created in various dates. Ironically, when I switched to Simple:Press I had already set the dates to 99% of my imported topics. Now I can no longer do that under Simple:Press. Surely I should be able to have control over that.
I though that the "forum tools" would allow me to change the date. If they don't what do they do? just curious.
I don't really follow your logic here or quite get what you are sayign to me. But...
When you create a new topic then you can edit the time-stamp on that new topic before you save it from the options panel beneath the editor window.
When you create a new post in an existing topic you can also edit the time-stamp in the same way.
There is no facility to edit a time-stamp AFTER a post has been saved and - as Steve stated above - we have never been asked to provide such an option as far as I can remember. But yes - it can be edited in the data table as a last resort and if it of such importance.
The forum tools are described here: http://codex.simple-press.com/.....her-tools/
