We use Screencast/Tech Smith for a large majority of our videos and embed them on our Word press site with no issues, but have not been able to get them embedded on Simple Press.
Note we have no issue with embedding a video that we post on you tube, simply be pasting the youtube url.
This process does not work with screencast.
We added the TinyMCE Plugin and even using the Insert/edit embedded media, we have not been able to embed a Screencast video in to any Simple Press forum/post.
Here is the URl
http://www.screencast.com/t/loazAfXkW9
Html embed link
<a href="http://www.screencast.com/t/loazAfXkW9">Canadian IVEY PMI June 6, 2013</a>
and the html code
<!-- copy and paste. Modify height and width if desired. --><iframe name="tsc_player" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" type="text/problem-with-post-edit-buttontml" style="overflow:hidden;" src="http://www.screencast.com/user.....s/Camtasia Studio/media/2d4b4d63-147b-4a4c-abb5-682eea452c9d/embed" height="337" width="600" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>
Is there some option setting that we need to make changes to.
Thanks
you cannot post an iframe in the forum... if it was allowed any user could do an iframe and insert malicious code or XSS... in a wp post, its usually quite a limited number of users that have unlimited html in doing posts... in the forum, allowing iframes would be very dangerous...
which is why oembed, like youtube, is so key... just paste a url and it works... a shame screencast doesnt support it... its not a wp thing, but a internet standard...
there is a couple of topics in this forum where we showed folks how to allow iframes in posts as long as they were aware of the security risks (for small, private forums it may make sense)... you can search for that or we can try to point you at it... in the upcoming 5.3, we make it even easier to bypass the security check for iframes and even make it possible for you to add your custom security checks for who can post iframes...
is there any other way besides iframes to embed a screencast? like another internet stand the embed object?

Thank you for your quick response. I contacted Screencast tech support and at this time they do not have a solution. Although they said they were aware of the issue and it is on a long list of enhancements.
If you have any other ideas on how we can resolve our problem without compromising security, please advise.
Also, if I come up with a solution I will post the results here.
Thanks
so the only option you have is to use iframes? too bad...
well, best I can offer right now is to wait for SP 5.3... we are just waiting for wp 3.6 to release.. now a good two months late... once you have 5.3, we can probably help you set it up so just admins can use iframes...

Wondering if the iframe situation has changed?
I'm providing protected instructions videos to my clients and they can only be displayed via iframes. Since I purchased access to the videos and the right to provide them in a protected page/forum, I do not actually have possession of the videos to only use a Vimeo short link, etc.
So my only solution is using iframes.
I see in the post area on the kitchen sink there is a "media" icon in the drop down and a "type" drop down...it does have "iframe" as an option...so why not allow the "admin" the option to add iframes since it already there?
I get you don't want everyone to have this option, but allowing the admin is doable, right?
Just wondering.
The only other solution I can think of is to send my peeps off the forum to a protected page...not very excited about this!
Thanks for any help in advance,
Joe
vimeo? vimeo does support the oembed standard... have you tried just pasting the url of the video into a post? asking because you said you had a vimeo short link... wondering if its following the oembed standard to which vimeo uses for other videos... this could of course be a special case with vimeo - just want to make sure you tried the oembed...

Thanks Mr. Papa. These videos are not hosted at Vimeo. These are self hosted by the video content provider. They keep them locked down...I am provided with the iframe links and nothing else.
I'm obligated to keep the videos protected on a private page or private forum using the iframes.
Pasting in the url does not work...as it shouldn't, since the videos are "protected" against doing this.
I've had these videos on a protected page using the iframes...but want my peeps to be able to find everything under one roof rather then sending them off to different places for information and content.
I think Yellow Swordfish is seeing if there is a way to do this.
I do appreciate the help,
Joe
we are discussing yes... but any changes would be in core and available in next version of SP...
but it is available today through the use of two filters... that we already know...
