Has anyone come up with a good way to embed audio in posts. My members like to post audio and video files for constructive criticism on fiddlerman.com and have chosen to upload the videos to Youtube and embed on my site instead because of the problems occurring with all the choices on the embedded media tool above.
Here is an example of a typical audio file uploaded on my site and embedded using QuickTime as the choice player.
Sometimes I can see it sometimes not. Many members are not able to see it at all.

if you are embedding youtube videos, simple paste the url of the youtube video page (NOT the embed code or iframe) into the post content and the embedding will be auto handled.

Does that work for video files posted on Amazon S3 or only for Youtube vids?

The oEmbed code is a part of the WP core. This WP Codex article lists the curretly supported sources (http://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds) which does not, currently, appear to support Amazon S3. Or - more probably, Amazon S3 does not support the oEmbed protocols as yet.

I want to keep the content private, so I'm going to try making the link private in Youtube and then post it only in the forum and see if that works. Have you tried that?

Posting a link to an "unlisted video" from Youtube will allow the video to be embedded in the forum, which means protected content can remain protected even when it's posted on Youtube. Try it if you're looking for such a solution. Here's a private video link from my Youtube channel:

So how do you embed mp3 player ? Id like to have a list of mp3 to play in a forum post.

any wordpress plugin that lets you embed an audio player should work if it uses a shortcode...
otherwise you can embed individual mp3 files...
but the forum itself, does not have a player... but as said, with shortcodes, you can use any wp plugin that allows shortcode embedding...
