Upgraded to V5, but it isnt working completely.

When I try to post, I get a 'Access denied - you do not have permission to view this page' message.

And the forum footer shows 17 pages of topics, 700+ topics, but also doesnt display the topics but instead shows 'There are no topics in this forum'

Can you access the forum w/ the login info I sent you via PM and see what you can do?

Sorry, but I am not sure what you are trying to do...

First, the account your provided does not have SP admin capabilities so we cannot look around the sp admin... a wp admin is NOT an sp admin... you add in the sp admin caps on forum - admins - manage admins...

second, where do you think the forum is installed??  you link in the nav menu points to:  http://delreia.com/forum/open-forum/

but that is not valid or the location of the forum... its at:  http://delreia.com/forum/

if you go the link in the nav menu, it will fail because the page does not exist...

If you go to the actual location that I mentioned, you will see a different message informing you that you have not created any groups or forums yet...  so that is first step, create some groups and forums...

second, you will find you have some js conflicts on your site... It appears to be from your wp theme improperly loading jquery from off site instead of the version that comes with WP...

<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript">

and to boot, its a very old version of jquery so certainly conflicting with the version that wp loads itself...

No, I have 2 forums. The Open Forum appears at http://delreia.com/forum/open-forum/ when you click on the Forum tab and a Property Hotlist forum that appears at http://delreia.com/forum/prope.....-hot-list/ when you click on the Hotlist tab. I didnt set that up, and have no idea how it works. Groups and forums appear in my database, and in the admin.

Yes, the username I sent you via PM was created when I was using V4 and it had admin rights, then when I upgraded to V5, it got moved to non-admin somehow in the upgrade. But I have changed it to admin for you.

Whats next?

I'm assuming if I fix the js conflicts, then it will help the forum work better in regards to the 'Add Topic' button not working correctly.

OK - many issues here so let's take them one at a time.

First up the bad jQuery loading. I think - and it is only a supposition at the moment - that the culprit may be the slider up/down thing on the right - if that is known as the 'portfolio'. So - is that a plugin or a part of the WP theme? you need to track down where it is loading jQuery fron the googleapis cdn so it can be corrected.

But back to SP itself. To save me trawling back through lots of pages of posts - were there problems when this was upgraded to V5? You have lost all of the permission records which is actually why no topics and posts are showing up. so do you know if there were upgrade problems in some way? and if so - is there a thread on this forum about it?

I don't think the 'portfolio' is the right sidebar images. That is the image vertical reel slideshow. I'm pretty sure the code for that starts on line 278 (search for ivrss). Though I don't know what the 'portfolio' could be. I've deactivated a lot of plugins that it could be.

Yes, all this has to do w/ upgrading. This thread details all the issues I'm having upgrading to V5. Can I restore my permissions records for V5 from a V4.5 back-up?

Oh gosh. OK I have read it all again and NOW I remember! I had lost touch that this was the same thread.

There would be problems simply restoring V4 permission data because there have been db changes which would need to be accounted for.

I know this has gone on a long time and you have been very patient but let me put it on hold again so i can talk to Steve (Mr papa) to see if we can come up with the best way to get the permissions data back again. I will compose an email when I save this post...

Excellent

I was able to find and delete that <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"> code. And everything seems to be working fine. The 'Add Topic' button is working a lot better.

I did though restore some of the V4 back-up permissions tables to my V5. But it still isnt working properly. The footer sayds there are topics, but they are not viewable in the forum itself.

sorry, you are missing the sfpermissions table??  that says users have not been assigned to a usergroup with a permission set...

or is it the sfroles table missing??

[Steve] No - as I said in the email on this one - it seems to be the sfauths table that is either missing or not populated. Which probably means the sfauthcats table as well. sfroles has the parent data - just no auth data. This database has had a painful and largely manual transition so I am unsure what is and what is not correctly updated to V5...

[Michael] Can you tell me the following:

  1. Does you database contain an 'sfauths' and an 'sfauthcats' table?
  2. What are the column names of the 'sfroles' table?

Yes, it has both 'sfauths' and 'sfauthcats' tables

Column names of the 'sfroles' table - role_id, role_name, role_desc, role_auths
