I received the following message on the website after upgrading to 5.5:

Fatal Error: Call to undefined function bp_is_username_compatibility_mode() in /problem-with-post-edit-buttonome... ...

The Forum is totally unusable after upgrade frown . Please help resolve asap.

That is a call to the BuddyPress plugin. Are you using the latest updated version of that as well?

Specifically this call is made when using the BuddyPress profile option instead of the SP profile.

Oh ok. Issue resolve. I had BuddyPress Profile selected in Display Profile Mode when I don't have one. I changed it to Forum Profile Page. Now it's ok.

The real question is that to get this function you must have the Simple:Press BuddyPress plugin installed and active. And if you are not using BuddyPress why would you do that?
