The good news is the update eventually "took." However, when I click on the "view new posts" link in the admin postbag, I get the following errors:

This does not (thankfully) seem to be affecting regular forum posts; just the admin postbag.
Any suggestions?

Looks like your sp plugins are not up to date. The undefined function call does not exist in the current ones.

Not sure what to do about that: when I click on the Forum tab in the WordPress dashboard sidebar i get:
You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried logging out of the site and then back in?

Aha! That did it! I was able to update the SP plugins and all seems to be working again!
