Fatal Memory Error

Hi,

I'm getting this error on install:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 8192 bytes) in /problem-with-post-edit-buttonome/islandsi/public_html/quakerservice.ca/wp-includes/functions.php on line3847

Looking at the codex I've tried

- raising the memory , it is currently 268M which I check with wp-memory usage

- disabling all plugins and changing the theme to 2013 then doing the install

- checking that I've had the latest version of php, sql, wordpress etc.

All to no avail. Anything else to try? I'm using Greengeeks for hosting, tech support checked that memory usage was raised and tried a few things but had no luck.

best regards,

Glen

268M is not needed to run simple press.  I have some running in 32M even though WP sometimes struggles to run in that little... normally 48M is plenty for pw, sp and a host of plugins...

so not sure why you might be having memory issues...

what version of SP?  what additional sp plugins are you running?  what are you forum - profile - profile settings configuration?

HI,

Yes, I know, I bumped it that high to see if the install would happen but had tried 64M as well.

I'd just downloaded SP last week so it's 5.3.2.

I'm not running any additional SP plugins yet. I'm just trying to install it so far so haven't been able to change any configuration settings.

This is an activation error.

thx

glen

yeah so the latest is 5.3.4 and it (actually 5.3.3) fixed this memory issue for the users that were experiencing it... best to stay updated...

I'm so last week, feel like a grandpa watching Laurence Welk.

That worked, thanks!  laugh
