Feature a forum thread in a WP slider/scroller?

I'd like to feature Simple::Press forum threads in a slider/scroller on our WP home page.  Any suggestions for how to do this?  I'm open to changing themes/plugins to accomplish this.

you can use the recent posts template tag (in the template tags function) to get the latest post(s)...  and can certainly get a link to it in the slider... but if more content, and how it 'goes into' this slider would depend on the slider and what kind of api it has... if it only works on a wp page id, then not much can be done with that kind of inflexibility...
