I've read in another topic about fixing the "This forum requires Java script to be enabled ..."

I entered a custom meta data description, but that didn't fix it.  What do I need to check?

Here's a screenshot, thanks!Facebook-SimplePress.JPGImage Enlarger

You have completely lost me I am afraid!

What is it you want to do and what has the Javascript required message have to do with it please?

It actually works now, something must have been cached "somewhere" because after I made the changes on the settings yesterday it wouldn't work, wasted a lot of time trying to get this fixed.

By default, SP displays a message about Java bla bla bla when you post a link to the forum on Facebook (and probably other sites too).

I think it would be better to have a default description like "Just another Simple Press forum" (as Wordpress does or come up with something better) with the settings to show that with a link on Facebook.    I just recently got on Facebook and had NO idea that when somebody posted a link to my forum it would show with the Java bla bla bla.

Afraid I am not following you either...  we dont ever display a javscript message by default... it would only occur if javascript is disabled in the user's browser... simply put, the forum requires javascript to work...

but you also say working now?  so all is good?

Christine seems to be saying that this forms part of the content when posted to Facebook. Which is not our experience. Plus that message is coded up in the proper html way...

Here's the other topic with that Java problem and I also fixed it by messing with the SEO settings:

https://simple-press.com/suppo.....k-issue/

I'm so tired, was reading the help screens for the SEO settings and I couldn't figure out what all these options mean.

I also haven't been able to find Codex anymore.   Ok, found it, apparently it got moved.  Now I can't figure out how to search it.

"Below, you can find a top level Codex categories for more information. Or you can use the more detailed Codex sidebar menu for finding Codex information."

I can't find the sidebar.   In fact, I'm sure that there used to be a sidebar right here in the forum with the Codex link and other info, but I don't see it.

For the record - could you tell us what changes you made to the SEO settings? At least we can try and evaluate if the default values at install time are the best we can offer so would appreciate some info on that.

So - our codex? The codex menu is on the right hand side of the posts here in our sidebar. It's a great big black menu block with a title of 'Codex Pages' above it. The search forum is immediately before it.

Sorry, I can't remember what changes I made.  Didn't take a screenshot until it wasn't working after I made the changes.  I'll update if I get to that again as I have to try to figure out how to properly display all pages in Facebook links.

And regarding the display of the sidebar, I tried it in Chrome (defaults to opening in my ext. monitor) and there it was!   Am usually using Firefox and have a 15.4" screen on my notebook.

So I moved Firefox to the ext. monitor and all of a sudden the sidebar showed up there too.

It's very strange that the scroll bar doesn't come up in both Chrome and Firefox.  As soon as the browser is too small to show the entire page including the sidebar, the sidebar simply disappears.

And I know it didn't use to be that way because I remember seeing it all the time (always use notebooks.)

Out theme is fully responsive. When the width of display is too small for both content and sidebar it switches and displays the sidebar below the content - like, in fact, most responsive themes these days.

Oh.  I suppose that's another case of "progress" that does not work well for me.
