Forcing "Location" as part of registration

I run a website that addresses issues in strata law which differs from state to state.  It would be greatly helpful to me, my helpers and readers if new registrants were compelled to say which state they live in and for that to then be transferred to the Simple Press User profile (so it would then end up under their user name in theiir posts).  I have tried to get this working with Register Plus Redux which will compell the user to say where they’re from but this doesn’t translate to an entry in the SP User profile.  Any thoughts?

does the register plus redux store the data in the wp usermeta table?  I think it does… which means you can grap our custom profile field plugin…  add the state field giving it the same name it gets in wp…  and they will cross pollinate each other….

Actually – although I have not directly tried this –  but I rather thought that if you named the Register Plus field exactly the same as ours then it would show up in any case. We named ours ‘location’.

Yes, I tried that but no joy.  I have been preoccupied with hosting issues and have stripped back a lot of my plug-ins until such times as the website has been successfully migrated to a new host.  Once I have done that, I’ll give this another spin.  But if anyone has any bright ideas meantime, happy to hear them

let us know…  wish other plugins did like wp does and stored the profile data in user meta… would make sharing so much easier…
