Hi Guys, all of the sudden none of the forum admin links work. Clicking on any button just runs me up to the top of the page where the announcement is. Also the remove announcement button does not work. Running the browser console shows something about an invalid control.

I am running under https / tls with CloudFlare and using the rocket-script option with aggressive caching.

Any suggestions?

Regards, Ed.

looks like probably js errors...  you have something that caches the admin?  kind of a waste... :)   after updating did you clear your cache and cloudflare?

not enough info in that console shot... is that just errors?  really need the first error that occurs when you click...

anything else updated or just simple press?

I didn't clear the cloudflare cache yet, it's a big busy site that's been up since 2004. Will try that in the morning.

Not running a software cache, just using cf rocket-script with aggressive caching. Will have to see if there is an option to exclude a directory. Otherwise it caches the whole site. The rocket-script combines all the scripts to load as one. It does speed the site up lightning fast.

WordPress is up to date. It's doing the same thing on my docsplace.org blog. So it must be something with cf.

Will dig into it tomorrow.

Thanks for your help.

G'mornin everyone..

Went to CloudFlare and dumped the cache and put the site into development mode. Ran ccleaner on my browser ensuring no cookies or cache was present.

Logged into my site and sp admin was the same. Grabbed these two reference errors. I should add that the forum is working well despite this admin problem.

I do remember having to uncheck the both the combined js and the other after a previous update. At that time the forum appeared to lack its css and didn't display properly. They are now unchecked.

I came here to report the exact same problem. I first noticed it about a week ago.

I've narrowed it down to a conflict with the Jetpack plugin, specifically the WordPress.com Stats module. If that's temporarily disabled my S:P admin menus work again. @fidosysop-2 does that help you at all?

Since WP stats are pretty essential, and I make use of a lot of other Jetpack modules, I'd rather not lose that plugin. It's easy enough to temporarily disable stats to make changes to the forum, but that's not a long-term fix.

Let me know if you need more info @mr-papa.

Good question for @fidosysop-2

are you sure it is the stats part? JetPack is just a minefield of problems largely because it installs with so much crap turned on by default with no obvious way of deactivating things. But I am pretty sure that we have plenty of users successfully running the stats.

I'm running 16 Jetpack modules. SP admin pages work fine with all of them turned on apart from stats. That's the only one I use that causes problems. I disabled them one by one to check. There are other modules which I don't use, so I didn't check those.

The ones that are OK are:

  • Carousel
  • Contact Form
  • Enhanced D
  • Extra Sidebar
  • JSON
  • Jetpack Comments
  • JP SSO
  • Manage
  • Monitor
  • Photon
  • Shortcode embeds
  • Site verification
  • Tiled Galleries
  • VaultPress

I've never found it difficult to deactivate JetPack modules. It's annoying that they auto-activate some for new users, but it's easy enough to fix.

Gorky5, YES that's it - thank you! wink

I disabled my jetpack stats and was able to navigate SP admin freely. Ran database cleanups etc and was able to reactivate combined js and css caching. The forum is working fine

Enabled JP stats and was not able to navigate SP forum admin. So that's whats causing the problem for sure.

As for JP i am only using related posts, shortlinks, widget visibility, and the stats, that i toggled back on after doing forum housekeeping. An easy enough solution for me.

Regards, Ed.
