Ok guys – I have installed JetPack from the WordPress plugin repository and reluctantly clicked on the option to ‘connect to WordPress.com’…

And up pops a little message that says ‘Your JetPack has a glitch. Something went wrong that’s never supposed to happen. Guess you’re just lucky’.

I assume this is intended to be amusing whereas I am afraid I just find it crass and juvenile. It also lives up to my expectations of the latest JetPack which has always been a piece of **** and seems to be continuing in that tradition. 

Sorry if I am sounding jaded but in my experience to date JetPack stomps all over other plugins, breaks the rule book and ignores WP protocols (which I know sounds odd) and is just a big pain in the backside for other authors trying to support their offerings. 

And now I seem unable to even install the damn thing.

Best bet is to first sign in to your WordPress.com account. Then in a new window run the connect jetpack prompt. Never had a problem doing it that way.

I have jetpack with stats on multiple sites with simple press…  I am not seeing any issue with the two together…

is there a specific part of forum not working?

is this in a specific browser?

I’m running under cloudflare https and rocket-script on two blogs. Neither will allow any sp admin navigation unless I disable jp stats. Using Chrome and waterfox browsers. I’m thinking it might be the rocket-script minification somehow interfearing with it.

I am also not sure if i asked but do you know is this is a new, recently updated JetPack that is causing the problems? And, of course, if either of you has asked the same question of the Jetpack team?

And as @mr-papa has Jetpack working in live sites, I will abandon my attempts to install it locally as we have the testing ground needed.

And I was feeling very tired and grumpy when I wrote the above post last night being critical of JetPack. In the light of a new, sunny morning, following a decent sleep then I can apologise for that. But I don’t take a word back. Jetpack has always meant trouble and  problems…

I haven’t contacted the JetPack team. It doesn’t seem to be affecting any other plugins, only the Simple Press admin pages. I’m running the latest JetPack and Simple:Press versions.

I won’t list all the plugins I use here, because I’ve tried turning them all off apart from SP and Jetpack. It’s only the WP Stats module that is causing a conflict in my setup. I’m not using Cloudflare, any CDN apart from Photon, and no caching plugins.

Yes, the forum admin pages, as described at the top of this thread.

I’m on a PC right now, and it affects Chrome, IE8 and Firefox 33.1. All work fine once Stats are disabled. I don’t have access to a Mac right now so can’t test on that.

Do you know how to use the web console to trap and look at script errors? If so can you load an admin page – say the WP dashboard – open the console and set it to just show script errors (if that is possible in your browser) and then click on the forum admin menu link. If any errors show up, can you copy and paste them here?

Andy – I’m going to send you a PM with login info for my site. I’ll temporarily grant you full admin rights.

Something (and I am not sure what and do not want to dig) is concatenating many of the javascript files together into one big load. I really do not know if that is being done by JetPack or not buit I suspect it probably is.
Can you turn that off so I can take another look please?

No – I wasn’t asking you to deactivate Jetpack – in fact I would prefer it to be active.
What I was asking you to turn off was whatever it is that is concatenating lots of the WP supplied JavaScript and loading it in one go. I have no idea if that is JetPack driven or another plugin you may have active.

Ah right. It’s back on now. I’ve no idea what might be combining scripts. I don’t have time to check right now but will try to later today.

CloudFlare rocket-script combines all the scripts as one. But since Gorky5 is not running under cloudflare we can scratch that one off our list. I can say it’s been that way for a while. Possibly before the latest JP update. I just ignored it as the forum itself was working ok.

It’s no big deal to turn off jp stats to do sp configuration.

@gorky5 Firefox 33?? latest version is 36.04… and latest Chrome is 41.0.xxx… might be worth making sure latest browsers are being used… both work fine on pc for me with jetpack stats and simple press…

what about simple press plugins? any difference if you temp deactivate ours?
