Forum disappeared after plugins installation

Just finished installing a host of plugins and my forum has disappeared. Is there some place I need to update in order for things to start working again? I would deactivate some of the plugins that I installed, but the area that displays plugins (activate, deactivate) is empty. It says I have 30 plugins, but shows none.

My site is englishgenie.com.

Thanks for having a look.

First step would be to check your error log... appears you are getting some error that is stopping the display...

can you get to the sp forum admin panels? if so, could look at forum - toolbox - error log...

you said a host of plugins... are these wp or sp plugins? if sp, did you follow these instructions:

http://codex.simple-press.com/.....g-plugins/

Tried to add the error log here but it wasn't sending properly (at least that's how it showed from my end). If you have already received 2 messages, sorry for the redundancy.

They were all SP plugins. Looking at the errors, I'm guessing I needed to create directories before installing the plugins, correct? Is there any way I can solve this problem without going back to a saved version? I could lose some information posted by my students otherwise.

Not sure what instructions there were to follow, but I downloaded the plugins to my hard disk, uploaded them using the simplepress plugin uploader, and activated them using the bulk activation.

Had a look at the backend and everything looks good according to the structure noted on your link above. All the folders are where they need to be, with subfolders for each plugin in the forum-plugins folder.

not sure what you mean... in sp-resources/forum-plugins there should be subdirectories for any sp plugins, such as subscriptions, watches, private-messaging, etc... are you saying you put all the files, without subdirs, in forum-plugins?

also, any data is stored in the db, not in plugins... so if you need to re-arrange the plugins based on above, go for it... you wont lose any data... you will likely need to reactivate the sp plugins though....

if you meant something else, please clarify...

so to recap... the forum was displaying and working fine until you added some sp plugins? after activating them, you forum disappeared?

right now you are getting some sort of php or other error that is stopping your display... your page consists of:

Forum | English Genie

did you check your server error log? not sure I understood your previous comment on that...

If my first line of this recap is correct, then you can start deactivating the SP plugins on our plugin admin panel one by one until it starts working again? then we know where it went south...

also, on your sp-resources/forum-plugins directory on your server, please check the directory names and make sure none of them end in 1... if so, just remove the 1 from the directory name...

It looks like you have some zip files of the plugins in the /wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins/ and also a post-rating1/ folder.

I would start with ftp'ing in or however you access your server files and delete all the zip files and rename post-rating1 to post-rating.

Then see if can access the forum admin > plugins list and deactivate any, that are activated, that you know you don't use or don't need at the moment like Prune-db.

Let's start again. Here's a screen shot of some messages in the error log. Can you let me know what needs to be done to solve this problem?

Again, the steps taken before the forum disappeared were:

1. downloaded the plugins to my hard disk

2. uploaded them using the simplepress plugin uploader

3. activated them using the bulk activation

It's almost 3am my time, so I'll have a look at your response after waking up in a few hours. Much appreciated.

It didn't go through, so I uploaded it here: http://englishgenie.com/wp-con.....or-log.jpg.

Looks like we crossed messages. Renaming the folder was our solution!

I'll double check everything in the morning, but for now at least the forum is up.

Thanks
