Support Forum
Hi I have had this problem before but my tricks don't seem to be working this time.
I had a forum in a temporary parent forum then moved it to another and changed the permissions. After moving it, it's no longer in the list of forums in the admin forum listings. Also it's missing from the area where forum-order is listed.
In the frontend the forum is displaying in its old location.
however when I click on it, the browser just spins.
I checked the database and the forum is still there, but the parent id is still the same as the old parent.
I tried flushing the cache in the toolbox and flushing the JS/CSS.
I am using 5.1.1
Any tips?
Yes - that's a worry. I have not heard of any other problems such as this but there is always a first!
Could I ask if you have many forums and sub-forums? If there are only a small number then it might be worth biting the bullet and changing all the 'parent' IDs to zero and clearing out the 'children' fields which will make them all main forums and make it easier to start again...

Thanks I changed the parent, and that helped, there was also a serialized value in the children that pointed to the same id as the actual forum. I erased it as none of the other forums had nothing like that.
Now, the forum shows in the right place under "Manage forums"
But in the ordering section it's still not there, tried clearing cache.
In the front end it's still show in the old location
There are lots of forums(73).
I have to go to a meeting and won't be around for a few hours but I will check back this afternoon if you have posted something.
Thanks!
So - if you have NO sub-forums then ALL 'parent' values should be zero and all 'children' values should just be empty.
The other thing to check for might be the 'forum_seq' column. This column holds the display sequence (within each forum grouping). I would not have thought it likely but does your 'missing; forum' have a value in forum_seq? Or the same value as another forum within the group? If a save really tangled things up that is perhaps possible. If this is the case - might you be able to manually adjust it?
