This is my forum - http://livingonanarrowboat.co......arrowboat/

I've been using Simplepress for the last five months. It's been a great addition to the site and is becoming ver popular. It's stopped working though and I don't know why. When any of the topics are clicked on I get a "results not found" error message. Any idea what I can do to get it working again?

Unless you have changed the SP template 'results nor found' is not an SP message so I assume the request ends with a 404 page. Is that correct?

Our first question always has to be - what has changed? When something works and then stops working it is usually because something has changed. A new WP plugin. An update to a plugin or theme. Or some event... let's start there.

Hi there,

What has changed? The only thing I can think of is some tweaks I had done to improve the site load speed. The guy that did it assures me that he didn't touch anything to do with the forum, but there don't appear to have been any other changes in the last few days.

No, the 404 page doesn't display. When the forum post has a link to the site post, clicking on the forum post title opens the site post rather than the forum post. Where there is no link to a site post I get the result shown below...

Ah OK. That is still probably the result of a 404. So basically what you seem to be saying is that forum URLs are being processed by WordPress as if they were blog post URLs. This can be down to a few things.

The most probable is that the WP rewrite rules have become scrambled for some reason. Go to the WP Admin > Settings > Permalinks and update the permalink panel. You don't need to make any data changes. After this go to the forum admin > Integration > Page and Permalink panel. Make sure the correct page is selected at the top. If it is not then select and update. After this click on update forum permalinks.

If none of that changes anything then do you have any redirection plugins? If so then you may need to exclude the forum page (often using the slug). Another culprit can also be the Yoast SEO plugin. Do you have that active?

Next - do you have any cache plugins active as if so you will need to exclude the forum page from being cached. caching should not have this effect but it needs checking.

You are a STAR! The wrong page was selected in the forum admin section. Everything is OK now, but why did it happen in the first place?

well glad it is now OK but I can't answer the obvious question!
We don't take guesses in the code and that data is held in the database.
For now perhaps if you could just monitor it and if it changes again then we can investigate...
