Hi and thank you for an excellent plugin with amazing capabilities. We have been using it to great success overall, but unfortunately have a slight issue with a recent update.(Simple:Press Version 5.7.1)
For some reason, when the user clicks the 'Log In' button and gets redirected to /wp-login.php, the page does not load, but instead displays a ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE message.

We made no changes in that area and have no other reports so somewhat puzzling...
The event will almost certainly be recorded in the php error log on your server. Can you take a look for any 'fatal error' entries? If nothing else is offered you can usually get to see the php error log via your hosting control panel.

as guests we cannot really look at your site... but nothing jumped out... after trying Andy's comments maybe go to forum - integration - page and permalink and try loading the forum js in the footer...
also, is your wp theme up to date? wp does change versions of jquery and jquery ui which you theme seems to use... so it will need potentially need periodic updates as well...

well, its a database error... but its coming from another plugin... one called new user approve... does that ring a bell?? perhaps its not updated to work with current version of WP? there have been some breaking changes in wp for new users (email, pw and such)... so perhaps an update is needed?
Can you disable the plugin and see if it functions with it disabled?

Hi Mr Papa,
Thank you for your support. I have disabled the plugin (which has not been updated in 11 months), but the the login functionality still doesn't seem to work. The WordPress theme appears to no longer b supported which is not great, but we're no longer seeing anything in the error logs except this error, which is not firing for login attempts, but is there in the logs so I thought I would share it with you so you can see:

Please note that as this is a live client site, I have re-enabled the New User Approve plugin.

Well this new error is coming from your theme. I myself am not an expert on this but it looks like it might be suggesting this is a server setting of some kind. I would send that error to your host support to see if they can shed any light on it.

Just guessing, but has your forum page somehow been changed?
I assume /community is the WordPress page for your forum. Possibly go to > forum > integration > and regenerate your simplepress url.
Also try running database repair from > toolbox > housekeeping.
