This is the only error issue I have found in the logs:

March 6, 201410:37 am | spaErrError | 1 | database

file: /var/www/vhosts/silversurfers.com/problem-with-post-edit-buttonttpdocs/wp-content/plugins/simple-press-bkp-3/sp-api/sp-api-error.php

line: 59

function: sp_notify

error: Table 'wp_sftrack' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

UPDATE wp_sftrack SET notification='a:2:{i:0;i:1;i:1;s:22:"Invalid database query";}' WHERE id=93762

This error was way back in March and the forum has worked since then.

The issue still remains...

If I de-activate the forum and re-activate it I can get the forum to appear at http://www.silversurfers.com/forum/ then if I leave it for 5 minutes navigate back to the homepage and then try to access the forum it is a blank page again.

Using Safari the forum, does not show whether you are logged in or out. however in Chrome the forum will show when logged in but not when logged out. This might be a red herring due to Chrome's sticky cache. I do have W3 total cache running and am going to try de-activating it to see if that is causing any issues.

Have you done what that first error tells you to - which is to run repair againstt he database tables? Because that should be your fist task.

The tables in question are now returning a status of ok.

So there has to be other errors. This is a typical php fatal error behaviour. Are you looking at your server php error log?

Hi gents,

We found the problem to be W3 Total cache, specifically the page caching facility and so have switched off this facility and now the forum is working as expected.

Thx

well - as is commonly discussed here there is no need to turn page caching off. What you need to do is to exclude the forum slug from ALL cache types that you are using. The data is far too dynamic to be simply cached.

Yes I added the forum to the exclusions and this did not work for us.

It may well have been a combination of settings within W3 total cache that caused these issues, but certainly for us page caching was more of headache than the befits it gave due to the issues it caused with our registration process as well.
