Yes I think CDN might be a better option, it's just a case of finding that sort of service at a reasonable price.

I don't have much good to say for most CDN services either! They are good for hard-coded html pages but with frameworks like WordPress there are often too many variables to cope that well. But worth a try.

Good point! I am certainly going to try more traditional ways of speeding the site up first.

and we have a bunch more optimizations planned as part of 5.5.1... just too late in 5.5 cycle to get in... should be released tomorrow assuming I can get back home today...
